Working towards greater calm and confidence

Some behaviours can make everyday life with your dog particularly challenging. During behaviour therapy, we explore what is behind that behaviour and work step by step towards an approach that is realistic for both you and your dog.

When behaviour
gets in the way

Does your dog bark or lunge during walks? Are they easily frightened, uncomfortable when left alone or highly reactive towards people, dogs or movement? It is not always easy to know how best to respond.

Behaviour never happens without a reason. Your dog is trying to communicate something, even when their behaviour feels difficult, confusing or frustrating to you. Together, we look for the underlying cause and explore how you can support your dog more effectively.

Behaviour therapy can help with concerns such as:

  • Fear and insecurity
  • Reactivity towards people or other dogs
  • Separation anxiety and difficulty being left alone
  • Chasing cyclists, cars or animals
  • Guarding food, toys or people
  • Overstimulation and difficulty settling
  • Challenges following adoption or a distressing experience
  • Other behaviours that affect your everyday life together

Understanding comes
before change

During the guidance process, we look beyond the behaviour that is immediately visible. I consider your dog’s body language, their environment, possible triggers and what happens directly before and after a reaction.

This allows us to gain a clearer understanding of what your dog needs. From there, we create a personal approach with clear and manageable steps.

The aim is not simply to make your dog stop displaying certain behaviour. We want to help them respond differently in difficult situations and give you the knowledge to support them along the way.

No standard plan for every dog

Every dog has their own personality, background and sensitivities. That is why there is no single solution that works for everyone.

The guidance is tailored to:

  • Your dog’s behaviour and body language
  • Their background and daily environment
  • The situations in which the behaviour occurs
  • What is realistic within your family and routine
  • Your questions and goals

I use positive and respectful methods, without harsh corrections. Together, we find an approach that not only provides clarity but also strengthens the trust between you and your dog.

You are an important part
of the process

Behaviour therapy is not only about your dog. You will also gain insight into what your dog is communicating and learn how to respond during difficult moments.

I explain why we use certain exercises and how you can apply them in everyday life. You do not need to do everything perfectly from the start. We build things up gradually, evaluate what works and adjust the plan where needed.

This means you receive more than a set of exercises. You gain the understanding and confidence needed to continue supporting your dog independently.

Progress takes time

Behavioural change rarely happens overnight. The way the process develops depends on your dog, the nature of the behaviour, their environment and how often you are able to practise.

Sometimes small changes become visible quite quickly. In other situations, more time and follow-up are needed. We work without unrealistic promises or pressure, but with patience, clarity and a focus on lasting progress.

Being open about your dog’s behaviour, background and everyday situation allows me to support you as effectively as possible.
